Celebrating A New Year

Even though we are in the middle of our school year, we can still celebrate and enjoy the start of a new year.  2013 brought us a lot of great surprises and new supplies.  Here is a list of the best things 2013 had to offer for the KPS Art Room.

1.  Our iPads!   The students are always waiting and ready for a turn; eager to create digitally.  With the addition of a 4th iPad students won't have to wait quite so long in between turns.

2.  The Kiln!  While we have been doing clay for the last few years here at KPS it will be so nice to have our very own kiln to use at school.  A BIG thank you to our PTA.

3.  Mrs. Reger and Del, our Custodian!  I am always trying to find new ways to display and share student art throughout the building.  Mrs. Reger has been so supportive when it comes to finding places to display and permanently install artwork to add a touch of creativity throughout the building for our students, teachers, and the community to enjoy.

4.  All things sparkly!  Several years ago I found glitter crayons for my students and they were an instant hit.  This year I purchased sparkly paints to try.  They disappeared in just a few weeks.  Next year, I will make sure to stock-up so we don't run out again.

5.  Art Shows!  Every Grade Level gets their own Art Show throughout the year.  This is a great time to showcase artwork and share our artistic experiences with out family and friends.  Each time we do an Art Show, I say to myself; this is the best show yet!  And then the next show comes along and it is even better.

6.  Creativity and Imagination!  Without creativity and imagination, art would be a pretty boring place to be.  My students and I really appreciate everyone's support in letting creativity flourish!
